Year 2 Riddles

Children build me in winter,

They put on me a scarf, hat and coat

What am I?

I am small when I start off then I get bigger and bigger

Through the dark you come to see my colours

I go up in the air, there I pop.

What am I?

I am used for parties

My flames turn bigger and bigger

You can’t feel me but you can look at me.

What am I?

I am perfectly straight

I come in lots of colours at school

I am white or sometimes I am see-through

I normally have writing on me.

I light up the sky,

I don’t have bones

You don’t see me in the day, you see me in the night.

Some people say I am made out of cheese

Some people say I have a smile in the middle.

I cannot see, I am as smooth as metal.

Some people can land on me, in a rocket.

The stars twinkle, to make me go to sleep.

What am I?

I am as red as a cherry

My skin is as bumpy as a cat’s tongue

I am as big as a house

I am on the British flag.

Knights try to kill us.

I have claws as big as a skinny cat

When I am angry I blow something

What am I?

I’m as pretty as a pearl

I am very small and I’m hardly ever found.

I only come out in the winter

I dance in the sky as I’m falling to the ground

Then there’s nothing left of me.

I look a little bit like a star but I have bits sticking out of me.

I am very beautiful am I’m white

It doesn’t matter because all that matters is that you feel beautiful on the inside and that’s how I feel.

What am I?

I am very beautiful when the sun is shining,

I am as soft as silk.

You sometimes pick me to give to people.

What am I?

I am a piece of your imagination come out on a piece of paper.

Maybe a castle, maybe a monster,

I could be anything.

What am I?

I am as smooth as a beautiful bright sun, shining down below.

I am special because nobody can touch me.

At the end of me there is a pot of gold,

waiting for somebody to find my fire and gold.

When the sun comes to play with the rain

I come out for everyone to see.

What am I?

I am up at night in the sky,

My best friend is the moon.

I am in a song, a beautiful song.

What am I?

I feel as soft as silk

I have 8 legs

I am as big as the moon.

I live in the darkest depth of the ocean.

I grow every year,

What am I?

I live in the rain forest,

I have suction cups

I have red eyes.

What am I?

I don’t have a brain

But I can think sometimes when I forget.

What am I?

I am often seen in the night

I can not be seen in the day

I am a burning fire of different colours,

What am I?

You can feel me but you can’t see me.

Sometimes you like me,

Sometimes you like me a lot.

Sometimes you don’t like me

And sometimes you really don’t like me.

What am I?

I wave to the sand,

I go in and out.

I crash onto the rocks,

What am I?

I am as smooth as silk,

I am like a star.

I grow very slowly

I dance in the wind and I glow in the moonlight.

What am I?

I feel sticky

I taste yummy and sweet.

I look sugary but I also taste sugary.

I come in and size and any flavour.

What am I?

I twirl gracefully across the stage.

I am a girl,

I dance to the twinkle of the stars,

Who am I?

I am black and sometimes I am black and orange

When I am orange I am very, very hot.

What am I?
