NEWSLETTER - AUTUMN TERM NO. 5
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to school. I hope that you all had a lovely half term and that everyone is well rested and ready for what promises to be an extremely busy half term! The children have already started rehearsing for their Christmas concerts and I can already hear the sound of carols around the school – it’s very exciting but terrifying how quickly this time will pass! Here is some important information and some dates for your diaries:
SAMARITAN’S PURSE
The majority of you have received the leaflet about the ‘Samaritan’s Purse’ charity. We are expecting more leaflets to be delivered any day. Each year we support this charity at school and collect as many filled shoeboxes as possible. The leaflet explains everything in detail. If you would like to fill a shoebox for the charity, please send your shoeboxes to school by Wednesday 23rd November. It would be wonderful if we could have as many as possible and make a difference to so many children this Christmas. Thank you for your support. If you would like any further details about ‘Samaritan’s Purse’, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs. Money at school.
FAMILY SERVICE
This Sunday, Year 2 will be leading family worship in St. Bridget’s church at 11.00a.m. All are welcome and I know that it will be a lovely service in which Year 2 will be telling us all about Saints.
ARMISTICE DAY WORSHIP
There will be an act of remembrance in the school hall on Friday 11th November, which will begin at 10.45a.m. You are most welcome to attend this worship. Poppies are now available at school and donations will go to the British Legion Poppy Appeal. If you wish your child to have a poppy, please send a donation with them to the school. The poppies are taken around the school each day. If you wish to have a poppy yourself, they are available from the school office.
OPEN DAY – THURSDAY 17th NOVEMBER
The school will be holding an Autumn Open Day on Thursday 17th November to which you are all invited. There will be a ‘Jolly Phonics’ workshop for parents with pupils in infant classes which will start at 9.15a.m and there will be lots of other activities happening throughout the day in each class. Please come and see us – it will be fun! NB: the ‘Jolly Phonics’ workshop will also be held on Wednesday 16th November at 5.30p.m. for those parents who are unable to make the following morning.
School tours will be available and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
We are in need of volunteers to help with reading in the infant classes. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Wade at school as soon as possible. We would be most grateful for your help.
‘FRIENDS’ ASSOCIATION PARTY NIGHT – SATURDAY 19TH NOVEMBER
You will all have received information about the forthcoming ‘Party Night’ which has been organised by the ‘Friends’ association. It promises to be a great evening and it would be good to see you there. We are most grateful to Mr & Mrs. A. Watkin for hosting this event and also to the faithful members of the ‘Friends’ who give up so much of their time to help us raise funds. With the re-development of the school imminent, we need as much support as possible to help us raise money. The building will benefit your children and those of future generations. Not only are the ‘Friends’ helping with this, but they also raise funds to buy amazing resources for the children. With such an important, exciting time ahead for the school, I urge you to get involved with this. We need all the help we can get. For more information, please contact the Chairperson of the ‘Friends’ association, Mrs. Debra Parker:
