NEWSLETTER - SPRING TERM NO: 2
Dear Parents,
Already time seems to be flying and we are off to a very busy start here at school. With building work ahead in the very near future, it is going to be a most exciting Spring Term.
COMING SOON!
The Curriculum News will be issued on Monday and will include information on areas of learning this term for your children. For those of you who are new to the school, the curriculum news is an overview of topics covered in each year group, including information about how you can support learning at home. The curriculum news will also include a full set of important dates for the term ahead, along with school holiday dates. If you wish to discuss anything that appears in the Curriculum News, please see your child’s class teacher.
BIG MERIT
Our first ‘Big Merit’ of the year will be held on Friday 27th January at 9.15a.m in the school hall. Please join us to celebrate the achievements of our school family – it is always lovely to see you.
YEAR 2 COFFEE MORNING
Parents of pupils in year 2 are invited to a coffee morning on Wednesday 8th February 2012. Please join us at 9.00a.m where you will have an opportunity to meet with the teacher who will be covering Mrs. Wade’s maternity leave. The class will perform for you and there will also be an opportunity to liaise with the learning support assistants in the class. Father Philip will join us for worship at 10.15a.m and you are most welcome to stay.
BUILDING UPDATE
The redevelopment of the Foundation Phase area will commence on Monday January 30th. A letter outlining health and safety arrangements will be sent to you in due course, but your access to school should not be affected in any major way. Please note that for a twelve week period from this date, there will be no parking in the school grounds at any time and no access through the main school gates. As all parents are requested to use the entrance on the infant yard, there should be no problem. More details to be sent shortly.
PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTIONS
I apologise for the delay in sending out the election forms for parent governor. There are strict statutory procedures for this and forms will be issued at the start of next week. If you have any queries on receipt of the forms or would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.
PARENT WORKSHOPS
As you are probably aware, we like to run a series of parent workshops throughout the year to keep you informed of the curriculum, teaching methods and how you can help at home. To assist us in meeting your needs, please complete the reply slip below and return to school as soon as possible. Workshops are always held twice, once during the school day and once during the evening, to accommodate all who wish to attend. We would be grateful for your feedback.
PARENTMAIL
Many parents are already making full use of our PARENTMAIL service. It is a great way for us to communicate with you electronically. I think many of you who use the service will remember how useful it was when we had to close the school due to snow last year. If any of you are unaware of this service and wish to register or find out more, please contact Mrs. Money at school who will be happy to help you.
ADMISSION FORMS
We are at present accepting and processing admission forms for the next academic year. If any of you have a child who is due to start reception in September 2012, please ensure that you have collected an admission form from Mrs. Money. We would be grateful if all admission forms are received no later than Friday 10th February.
MATERNITY LEAVE
As you are aware, I will shortly be taking my maternity leave (hopefully I will be here until March!) – how the time seems to be flying. In my absence Miss Hoggarth will be Acting Headteacher, with Mrs. Glover stepping into the role of Acting Deputy Headteacher (as Mrs. Wade herself will be on maternity leave at the same time). The replacement teacher in Miss Hoggarth’s class will be an experienced Year 5 teacher who will temporarily join the management team of the school. In due course there will be an opportunity for Year 5 parents to meet the teacher. If you have any queries in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
SCHOOL POLICIES
At present we are updating the school policies on the website. In the meantime, if there are any policies you wish to receive, please contact me at school and I will be happy to send a copy home.
I look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. M. C. Matthews
Headteacher
