Ethos statement

At St Brides Major Primary School we believe that the spiritual, moral, cultural, social and physical development will be based upon the virtues and values of our Judaeo-Christian tradition.

¨ We believe that we should love our neighbour

¨ We pursue the values of truth and justice

¨ We  promote the challenge of service and duty

¨ We offer the experience of trust and forgiveness.

At our school you will find these values and virtues throughout the curriculum, the character and life of the school.

Þ Our spiritual development policy fully recognises the religious character of the school and this is explicit through the curriculum, the building and the daily act of worship. Pupils are encouraged to question and reflect on the teaching of Christ.

Þ We encourage all pupils to develop in confidence and character in order to have the courage to do what is right and to challenge what they know is wrong.

Þ Our pupils are given the opportunity to learn about their own and other cultures through Cwrricwlwm Cymreig, Literacy, Religious Education,  Music and Art. Pupils are taught to respect all faiths, cultures and       societies in our school and in the community  beyond our school.

Þ We believe that each child is made in the image of God and as such we encourage each pupil to reach their potential mentally, socially and  physically through a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum.

We have built our reputation around this statement. As such we enjoy close relationships with the Church and community; pupils and staff share an excellent relationship based on trust and respect; discipline is positive and forgiveness is a feature of our approach in maintaining a standard of good  behaviour.
